Her Beautiful Madness - Original

This work marks a new chapter in Brooke Madsen’s practice, introducing an expanded use of mixed media and sculptural materials.

Hand stitching, woven ribbon, gold chain, dimensional flowers, sculptural mushrooms, gold leaf and found objects emerge from richly layered paint to blur the boundary between painting and object.

Referencing the surreal symbolism of Alice in Wonderland, clocks, flowers and a silver key become recurring motifs that speak to memory, transformation, femininity and the passage of time.
